First Understand when you have the basketball in your hands you are now the dictator of the outcome of the next play. The coach, other players calling for the ball doesn't matter if you don't let. depending on the situation at hand it could be best to stare down your defender and throw jabs at them as if you were in a boxing ring, but your on a basketball court so you'll have to use your foot instead. You can have the same effect as if you were throwing a punch. If you get your defender to stumble then you'll have enough time to make your way around them, or shoot the ball. The jab step if the defender takes the bait will be the perfect move to paralyze your defender for a short amount of time.

Using a jab work best for aggressive defenders that are guar

ding you tight right when you get the ball. The first triple threat move I want to breakdown is the inside jab step. You jab between the defenders' foot to back them off you a bit. After you're done with that jab, you should jab step to the outside area and protect the ball during all of these moves by keeping the ball near your body and get between the defender when you are making these moves. Read and react to the defender as your making this series of moves and when something opens up you have to go for it before the have a chance to recover.

Triple Ball Fake

The triple ball fake can be effective because for one your not moving your feet until you decide if you are are going to make a play. The way you perform the triple ball fake is you keep the ball near your body and you swing the ball from right to left quick as you can. I think this move put the defender to sleep for a moment. if they haven't moved then they might be stuck in that spot. Use that time to blow by your defender, it's going to be a drive for a layup or floater or just a drive and kick situation if help side steps up.

Pump Fake Jab Step

The last move I want to talk about is the pump fake jab step move. that's a move that can help you early or late in the process of the move. If your defender goes for the pump fake then you can just drive by them right away. If they don't hit them with jab step to see if they will go for it. To really sell these moves you must be able to use your feet and arms at the same time. Putting your defender in a situation to think if you are going to drive or not.

When you have to ball you are in control of the situation, your job is to make the right decision and take your time when you have the ball and move as if your body is collectively decided ongoing that way. In other words. You have to make your fake look as real as possible. Take time to practice these moves and do research on them as well to have a better understanding. or you can email me at info@basketballdevelopmentprogram.com if you have any questions on how to execute these moves. Stay consistent in your practice of these moves.
